Brits by Brits

Brits by Brits is a comedy TV show that uses satirical humour to break down British regional stereotypes. The intention is to make the audience think by showing how ridiculous stereotypes often are.

My final university brief - Brits by Brits is advertised with a 30 second animated TV advert. This quick-paced ad offers viewers a glimpse into each of the 10 episodes, showcasing each characters unique personality from a different region. Due to the light-hearted illustrations created, the chosen tagline ‘Redefine the predefined’ acts as a prompt to encourage the audience think.

The process

Each character was individually researched, hand-sketched, digitalized and then storyboarded. All particularly important to understand the movement of each characteristic. RubberHose V2 rigging in After Effects was used to animate these characters.

The name ‘Brits by Brits’ was chosen since research proves it’s Britain’s opinion of Britain. Light-hearted and personal with a ‘hands on’ feel, bringing people together to enjoy TV.

‘Brits by Brits’ was paired with ‘Comedy at Home’ who would host the series. The visual style represents comedy and cinema in a more corporate way similarly to Netflix, Comedy Central etc.

The regional slang guide is a keepsake or coffee table book allowing the audience to understand each regions dialect relevant for everyday life. Each region is organized into beginner, intermediate and advanced slang levels to keep with the comedy theme.
